Contract Implementation

Wages

The administration is unable to implement the pay raise in September. As a result, the pay in your September paycheck will be based on the expired contract's pay scale. The administration has assured us that October paychecks will include the monthly raise to base pay as well as the money that the administration should have included in September paychecks and one half of the 1 percent bonus. The remainder of the 1 percent bonus will be paid in February 2007.

Health Insurance

In addition to the raise, TUGSA won you improved health insurance. Under the expired contract, we had to pay about $65 per month for Keystone health insurance. The new contract eliminates payment for Keystone subscribers.

While the change in health insurance has apparently gone smoothly thus far, the administration said it is unlikely but possible that subscribers to Keystone will see a deduction in their September paychecks.

Some TAs and RAs are officially listed as having half-appointments even though their departments have indicated to them that they will receive funding for both the fall and spring semesters; they have not, however, received award letters for both semesters yet, and are thus being charged 50% of the cost of health insurance. TUGSA has brought this issue to the attention of administration and will inform members of a resolution, if any.

If you are an individual subscriber to Keystone, with no family members enrolled, and the administration has deducted payment for Keystone health insurance from your September paycheck, contact TUGSA at 215-235-0512 or at union@tugsa.org.
