Employment Opportunities

TUGSA’s growth over the last several years has allowed us to expand from just one paid staff member to multiple paid staff. Each position is a year long appointment, and new hiring decisions are made each Spring for the upcoming year.


TUGSA is currently hiring for the upcoming 2019-2020 term, which begins June 1, 2019 and goes through May 31, 2020!!!


For each of the four advertised positions, please click on the position title to open the position announcement, which outlines job responsibilities, qualifications, terms of compensation and a timeline for decision making:


1. Staff Organizer: This is TUGSA’s main staff position contracted for 20hrs/wk (for a total of 800hrs) and includes a stipend, health insurance, and tuition reimbursement. The position places a heavy emphasis on labor organizing as well as event and meeting planning/management and familiarity with the TUGSA collective bargaining agreement/grievance process.

2. Membership Organizer: This position is contracted for 10hrs/wk (for a total of 400hrs.) and only includes base pay. This position is exclusively devoted to meeting and signing up new, dues-paying members in the bargaining unit (i.e. increasing membership density).

3. Office Organizer: This position is also contracted for 10hrs/wk (for a total of 400hrs.) and only includes base pay. This is a brand new position exclusively devoted to accurate, efficient and organized record/office keeping where the individual works “behind the scenes” to support officers and paid staff.

4. Sexual Harassment Officer: This position is contracted for 20hrs/month (for a total of 240hrs.) and only includes a stipend. This is also a brand new position devoted to addressing the issue of graduate employee sexual harassment on campus and includes both membership education and victim counseling components.
